How is artificial intelligence transforming business decision-making? At the Blended Intensive Programme in Lisbon, students from FH Salzburg worked together with international partners on hands-on AI projects.

A group of students from the Department of Business & Tourism recently participated in a Blended Intensive Programme in Lisbon, hosted by Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Lisboa. The international programme brought together participants from different countries to explore the impact of artificial intelligence on business and decision-making processes. Following an initial online phase, the programme continued on-site in Lisbon, bringing together students and lecturers from Portugal, as well as the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and FH Salzburg.
Under the title “AI for Business Leaders – Transforming Data into Action,” the programme focused on the role of artificial intelligence in organizational decision-making. Through both theoretical and practical sessions, participants explored topics such as data analysis, digital strategy, and leadership in the context of AI.
The week began with an informal get-together in Lisbon. Early conversations already showed that the experience would go beyond academic learning. A Forró dance session and a shared dinner created an open and welcoming international atmosphere.
The official programme at ISCAL then started with modules on collaboration in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams. In workshops, group work, and hands-on formats, students worked together on real-world challenges. A particular highlight was the visit to PwC, where participants gained insights into how artificial intelligence is applied in business practice.
Throughout the week, teams developed their own case studies, used AI tools to analyse and implement their ideas, and worked intensively on innovative solutions. The combination of creative work, technological application, and international exchange shaped the entire programme.
In addition to the academic content, the programme also offered space for cultural experiences and personal exchange, for example during a joint excursion to Cascais on the Atlantic coast.
The week concluded with final presentations, where students showcased their results and demonstrated how AI-based approaches can be applied to real business challenges.
Overall, the Blended Intensive Programme provided an intensive learning experience at the intersection of technology, business, and international collaboration, offering participants new perspectives on the future of AI in practice.
